St. Louis city is one of three left standing in a bid for the final gaming commission's casino license. Allison Blood has more from Jefferson City.

Wrap: Gaming Commission Chairman Jim Mathewson says while there's no guarantee any of the bidders will get the license, the backing of the Komen family can't hurt St. Louis' chances.

The Komen family is noted for their many successful financial projects including owning the Casino Queen.

St. Louis proposes to partner with Casino Celebration to put a casino at the Chain of Rocks Bridge and I-270.

The commission hopes to make a decision within the next six weeks.

Casino Celebration say they will make a point of hiring minorities and women in the new casino if they get the bid.

The Commission's Chairman Jim Mathewson made it clear to all applicants that secure funding was absolutely necessary to win the bid.

Mayor Slay was confident in the revenue behind the St. Louis project.
