State Treasurer Clint Zweifel introduced his two-part program focusing on getting more low interest loans to small businesses and increasing investments in community banks

Zweifel is working to get support for the plan, but can't move the program without help from state lawmakers.

Actuality:  ZGOOD.WAV
Run Time: 00:12
Description: "When it comes to actually providing some additional flexibility to help smaller businesses as they grow. Uh when it comes to uh making sure that we get the best return possible for taxpayers and reinvest in our state we need some statutory help there."

Zweifel says one billion dollars will be invested in communities statewide if the "Invest in Missouri" plan gains approval.

At this point without any written legislation, no action can be taken on the program.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel offered lawmakers a plan he says will create jobs and reinvest one billion dollars in the state.

The two-part plan includes increasing state investments in community banks and making more low interest loans available to small businesses which he says will create jobs.

The plan will be another state expense, but Zweifel says he could see why both Democrats and Republicans would jump on board with the program.

Actuality:  ZWEIF7.WAV
Run Time: 00:09
Description: "I think our goals are the same, and the goal is to reinvest in the state and create jobs. This legislation, we believe, can help do that. It will be another important tool in the tool box."
The program needs a "Yes" from the legislature before it can take effect.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel says he wants to create jobs and plant money in Missouri communities with his "Invest in Missouri" plan, but the ball isn't rolling yet.

Zweifel says the plan will increase the availability of low interest loans from the already existing Link Deposit Program and invest money in local Missouri banks.

The state treasurer says he does not want the program to be a waste of time.

Actuality:  ZWEIF8.WAV
Run Time: 00:07
Description: "My fear is that we don't market a program that isn't working to the best of its ability so we need to make sure structurally it's sound before we really rebrand and re-market the program."

The program requires legislative approval before it can take effect.
