Suicide prevention bill to be discussed in the House

This week the house is scheduled to discuss the suicide prevention bill.

Sonya Harper has more from Jefferson City.

Legislators have found a way to combat suicides in Missouri with the suicide prevention bill.

This bill would require the Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services to design and implement a state suicide prevention plan.

The plan would include promoting workplace programs for employees experiencing depression or other psychiatric illnesses.

Bill Sponser Representative Connie Johnson also says that this bill is important because Missouri ranks seventh in the nation for suicides.
