The Missouri Department of Health is aware of the numerous cases of West Nile in the state of Missouri. They are working with local health departments to determine the number of actual cases there are in Missouri.

The state public health laboratory is doing testing on samples that have been sent in from around the state. The department is also making us aware of the symptoms of the virus and the precautions you can take to avoid the disease.

However, this is nothing new. The department attempts to do this for every disease that residents fear.

The spokesperson says that besides their normal routine, there is not much else the department can do, except to educate.
