Senate Bill 1056 received its staunchest support from an unlikely source...the Missouri Right to Life Association.

The so-called "Informed Consent" bill requires doctors to counsel women twenty four hours before their abortions.

Spokeswoman for Right to Life Susan Klein says their goal isn't to support abortionists but to keep women informed about their choices.

Opposition for the proposed bill came from several groups, including Planned Parenthood.

Spokeswoman Erica Fox says a mandatory 24 hour waiting period may place "insurmountable obstacles to getting an abortion."

Currently, only St. Louis, Springfield, and Columbia offer abortions.
