The state is looking for a few good men, as lawmakers try to honor war veterans.

To explain, here's Richard Jordan from Jefferson City.

Members of the Missouri Legislature took a break from this week's special session to address Senate Bill 9-61 - which establishes a budget to recognize veterans of World War II with a medal.

There is a problem with this issue - not many people are enlisting to receive the honor.

There are an estimated 123-thousand veterans in Missouri, only less than 23-hundred have applied so far.

Also under Bill 9-61, the state will give one dollar for each Missourian who served in World War II to help build the memorial in Washington.

That adds up to 438-thousand.
