Lawmakers say they've got the answer to Missouri's highway problem. Karyn Dest reports from Jefferson City.

The House Republican plan to take care of Missouri's roads includes replacing the Highway Commission with a Secretary of Transportation. A change would require a constitutional amendment.

House Republican leader Catherine Hanaway says a tax increase is out of the question.

Contents: "Saying that we want another tax increase would be like saying you've paid for it once and we said we were going to build it but this time, this time, we're gonna keep our promises and we don't believe we can do that without changing something about the way the highway department works."

There has been no response yet from the governor's office or Mo-Dot. From Jefferson City, this is Karyn Dest.
