ST. Louis Homerule Passes the Missouri Senate

April 4, 2001
By: Michelle Wirth
State Capital Bureau

The Missouri Senate approves homerule for St. Louis. Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.

St. Louis City residents would have control over the election of both its city and county officers. Wayne Goode, the sponsor of the resolution says homerule gives St. Louis city citizens more say in local government.

This would put the government of the city of St. Louis in the hands of the people that live in St. Louis to decide these issues themselves.

Even if the constitutional amendment makes it through the legislature, voters would still have the final say. St. Louis City homerule would be up for a vote in November of 2002. From Jefferson City, I'm Michelle Wirth.
