The Doe Run smeltering plant in Herculaneum is under close watch by Missouri's Department of Natural Resources.

Chris DuPree has more from Jefferson City.

High lead levels found during testing in Auguest prompted the Natural Resources Department to issue an order to clean up the Doe Run Smeltering Plant in Herculaneum.

And even though the company is complying with the Department's clean-up orders, Natural Resources spokesperson Connie Patterson says that more progress is needed to meet the Department's clean-up deadline.
