Lawmaker Proposes Early Voting at the Polls.

States across the nation have begun to open their polls early...days early. And now St. Louis could join their ranks.

Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.

St. Louis Senator Paula Carter says she wants to the polls to open a month early before the next general election.

She says she's proposing the new law to help prevent overcrowding on election day.

Contents: Anybody can go and vote at the Board of Elections without any penalty and then on election day you don't have all those people coming in, in the lines like we have.

Carter says her law will make voting easier for the elderly, the handicapped and those who can't get off work.

Right now absentee ballots are the only way to vote early in St. Louis...but one lawmaker says she wants to change that.
