Committee approves Hancock exemption

A Senate committee approved a plan to exempt tobacco settlement money from Hancock refunds. Aaron Cummins has the story from Jefferson City--

The vote went along straight party lines... 4 Democrats in favor and 3 Republicans against.

Republican Steve Ehlmann says if the people vote against the measure, things will be right back where they are today... waiting for a court decision on how Missouri can use tobacco money.

Instead, Ehlmann supports a plan to give voters two choices.
