Abortion-rights supporters might face a wave of negative campaigning

Missouri legislators who voted to sustain the governor's partial-birth abortion veto should be prepared for possible mud slinging next election. Aaron Cummins has that story from Jefferson City--

Anti-abortion lobbyists here in the state capitol say they won't support any legislators who voted in favor of Governor Carnahan's veto.

A representative of the anti-abortion group Missouri Right to Life says the group decides which candidates to support based on previous voting records.

The group's state government director Patty Skain says they don't deliberately attack candidates.

Contents: Skain says the group generally uses positive support to help its own candidates, but, if there is significant information about another candidate which they feel the public should know, they will campaign against that candidate.

But in the past, abortion-rights supporters have found themselves targets of negative ads.
