Earned Income Tax Cuts Urged

Missouri's major welfare rights organization has announced it's support for a tax cut pending before the state legislature. Arshiya Syed has the story from the state capitol.

This bill is endorsed by the Reform Organization of Welfare and is sponsored by Central Mo. Senator Joe Maxwell that will provide low-income families with an earned income tax credit in the state of Missouri.

Maxwell says that Missouri's low-income families are 15th highest taxed nationally.

Maxwell wants to make sure that low-income families have the same opportunities as any other family in the state of Missouri has.

The Reform Organization of Welfare supports new legislation that will provide a tax break for low-income families. Arshiya Syed has the story from the state capitol.

This bill is sponsored by Columbia Rep. Vicky Riback Wilson it provide low-income families with an earned income tax credit.

Wilson says that there are children living in poverty their parents are working and are struggling to provide for their families. The Earned Income Tax Credit will give those families a tax break while assisting the well-being of their families.

but Legislative staff estimates that Wilson's bill would cost more than one hundred million per year.
