Drug Rape Bill Passes House

If you drug someone in order to rape them, you would face the highest criminal charge for rape under a bill passed by the state House. Tristin Yeager reports from the state capitol.

The bill would raise the charge and penalty for the crime from rape to forcible rape. Forcible rape can carry the penalty of life in prison.

Sponsor of the bill, Representative Vicky Riback-Wilson says her motivation for proposing the bill came from students.

The bill will now go to the Senate to be assigned to committee.

The bill raises the charge from rape to forcible rape for any person who uses controlled substances to assist with the crime.
