The state House Education Committee passed the latest version of the desegregation bill. This version takes away the power of the St. Louis City school board if the district loses accreditation.

A representative for the governor's office says this bill this year is the best chance to end desegregation.
The attorney of the St. Louis City School Board says Governor Mel Carnahan is dead wrong when it comes to the job being done by the school board. Tristin Yeager reports from the state capitol.
Carnahan said because of their poor performance, the school board had basically asked for the legislature to step in and take control.
