Missouri is heeding the recommendations of a study that says teachers aren't all they're supposed to be.

A national study revealed that a quarter of new teachers enter the classroom unprepared for the job.

Missouri is one of seven state that will work to improve the quality of teachers, through education and better certification processes.

Commissioner of Education, Bob Bartman says the new reforms will not have an immediate effect.

Bartman says that teachers in Missouri do not have many of the same problems the study indicates.

That's because of low teacher turnover and already strict certification procedures.
