Speaker Backs Gov's Package

Just two weeks after his election as Missouri's House speaker, Steve Gaw gave his annual opening address. Kimberly Lohman (low-man) in Jefferson City has the story.

It was the same song, second verse, as Gaw mirrored the Governor's agenda in his support for increased maternity stays.

Contents: I believe a mother should have the right to choose a 24-hour or 48-hour hospital stay and not be forced into, as one critic put it, "drive-through childbirth."

Gaw endorsed a safe-schools package and improved child immunization, items also recommended by the Governor.
